It may, IF
The modem has all the number crunching power on board (i.e. - of the
higher end winmodems)
All the modem's drivers do is load the equivalent of a frimware to it,
and from that point on they don't interact with the modem any more
AND
You have DOS drivers for it.
If all the above is true, then you can load the DOS drivers as you
normally do (config.sys or whatever), and after they are loaded, use
loadlin to load the linux kernel. Hopefully, by that time the kernel
will just see a regular modem.
I know of no current modem that fits these requirements (thought I did
use this technique to get a certain sound card to work about six years
back). Go out and explore.
