Good on you!
I have similar concerns about the road that RED HAT is choosing to take,
looks like the thickness part in red hat's brain is growing, I hope its
benign.

Subject: RedHat pisses me up!!

Sorry for being rude, but ...
This is the storry

Several weeks ago, I updated RH7.3 to 8.0 version using "update all" option.
Even though I didn't asked the installation program to remove any programs
from my disk, I was astounded to discover that KPackage and GnoRpm have
gone,
and now the only way to have a GUI to package management is some impotent
tool that RH have included, which gives me no choices what so ever.

This was the "last straw".
My conclusion is: meanwhile I'm downgrading to RH7.3 (since it takes time to
learn a new distro). In the long range: if no improvement is done in
subsequent versions, I'll move all the computers I administer to another
distribution (even if I have to invest 3-4 weeks in learning to deal with
new
environment).

I wrote RedHat a letter (to [EMAIL PROTECTED]) and expressed my
protest on the issue together with the conclusion. I envite every RH user on
on this list to tell RedHat all one thinks about their policy. Who knows,
maybe it will make them reconsider couple of things.
