It works very nicely with other Video Conferencing programs like MS Netmeeting (as long as you install the GSM codec from this web site on the windows machine). Speed - really depends on various issues. GnomeMeeting also doesn't require all the hackish iptables and modules that needed to dial in/out from within the firewall.
