SCO's (Santa Cruz Operation, the same guys that did Xenix with Microsoft)
plans to "tax" Linux (charge money per Linux installation because of software
patents they claim to have) is never going to fly.
If they do try to go ahead with it, I predict a huge backlash across the
Internet, with people openly disobeying the "law" they can no longer live
with (and frankly, they don't have to because it's a law only in the US,
not in most other countries). Look up "direct action" in m-w.com if you
don't understand what I mean.
Quoting Mario Savio's timeless speech from the 1964 UCBerkeley free-speech
"sit-in":
"There is a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious,
makes you so sick at heart, that you can't take part; you can't even
passively take part, and you've got to put your bodies upon the gears
and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and
you've got to make it stop. And you've got to indicate to the people
who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you're free, the
machine will be prevented from working at all!"
