no, this is actually exactly what sudo was created for, a generic, safe
wrapper around programs that should run suid with a limited choice of
commandline options and other limitations.

I print via CUPS to CIFS/SMB queues and it works fine, and samba exports
CUPS' queues out to windows' clients quite well as well. Never hd to
fight it or anything.
