I have had some problems with galeon sometimes not starting because
"gconfd" is not available", or something similar. I simply ran gconfd
from a shell, and things worked.

I figure some gnome developers assume people run everything from
gnome...

(Though evolution should normally start this daemon if it is not
running, if I understand bonobo correctly)
