Actually, when considering the out of box support for hardware, Linux has more drivers then Windows 2K/9x/Me. (For the sake of the people here, I'll simply ignore a certain Spyware OS). Both KDE and Mozilla are by far, more feature rich then the Microsoft (Internet) Explorer. Plus, well, Linux does have more out of the box software. (Though one must admit, that considering the lack of added software by anything MS, there wasn't too much competition...)
As for OO... by 2.0, with god's help, I'll starting using it instead of Abiword...
