Reading through that thread I suddnly realized something. A couple of days ago I've decided to tweak my nVidia driver using XF86Config and the document from the site.
At some point I've decided that I need to add the line: Option "RenderAccel" "on" to my XF86Config. Second reply in the thread from linuxworld yields: >A suggestion was made at linuxgames.com to try >Option "NoRenderAccel" "1" >in your x config file. This seems to help a lot of people. You can find a >small thread about this on linuxgames at >http://www.linuxgames.com/news/feedback.php?identiferID=6247&action=flatview >Hope this helps! So, I've commented the line Option "RenderAccel" "on", and added the mem=nopentium option to grub.conf ... I'll now try back KDE to see if it hangs...
