the problem is that I want to dissable the internal firewire card and use one that I plug in via pcmcia. reason being that the internal one doesn't support certain devices and YET the program for said device only looks for the device on the first firewire card.

Subject: disabling a built in pci device from linux

I'm trying to disable the internet firewire device on a compaq presario
1700. There is no option in the bios to do so so I'm trying to find a
way to do this inside linux. (2.4 kernel, suse8.1 system)

Any ideas?

thanks
