Actually, the protest *is* working. Yesterday my officemate saw one of those protest sites, and asked me what it was. It turned out that he didn't know anything about software patents and the kind of bad patents that exist out there, and I ended up giving him at least an hour lecture about patents in LZW, RSA, TTF hinting, one-click, arithmetic coding, what patents were, what patents are, how they are abused and the differences between copyrights and patents, and why patents are much more dangerous to the progress of humanity. I think that's one protest this guy won't forget :) -- Nadav Har'El | Friday, Aug 29 2003, 1 Elul 5763 [EMAIL PROTECTED] |----------------------------------------- Phone: +972-53-245868, ICQ 13349191 |Bumper sticker on stealth bomber: "If you http://nadav.harel.org.il |can read this, we wasted a lot of money!" ================================================================= To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word "unsubscribe" in the message body, e.g., run the command echo unsubscribe | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
