After investigating the problem a bit I found out that because of licensing problems between RH and the mp3 decoder inventors (or something like that) they couldn't include it in the XMMS rpm for RH8.0.
I then d/l the following RPMs:
xmms-1.2.7-22.i386.rpm
xmms-devel-1.2.7-22.i386.rpm
xmms-mp3-1.2.7-22.i386.rpm
Installed them, and restarted XMMS and nothing...
The most annoying thing of all is that when trying to run a .mp3 file... the player converts it automatically to a .wav file with the same name that he places (again automatically) in my home directory...
Has anyone bumped into this problem before?
Actually, I am about to give up so if anyone has a good media player (mp3, wav, CD) that he wants to recommend on I'll be happy to try it :)
Thanks, Amit.
