In principle, you are right.

In practice, my experience in upgrading packages in RedHat is not good.
The DLL hell (or RPM hell) principle is in operation.  There are all kinds
of dependencies, which need to be upgraded as well, including (sometimes)
the rpm tool itself.

I might as well re-install from a more recent distribution (my current
distribution is RedHat 8.0, downloaded from the Internet less than a year
ago).

In the specific case of Mozilla, I found that there is a Mozilla 1.4 RPM
for RedHat 8.x and it is being downloaded as I am writing this E-mail
message.
