I have added the off topic notation to the Subject line because I
believe that some people would consider *my* reply as such.

If you will go for the RJ45 solution then:

    1. Please report.
I hope that I am not the only one on this list who would like to read
where did you get the hardware, how much did it cost, what is the length
of the cable that you actually used and, in fact, any other detail about
your project. Actually, I guess that even more people here would like to
read about the wireless solution.

    2. Reducing the cost?
If you are willing to buy some hardware together with me, and maybe
others, and then split it, do let me know. In general, I am looking for:

2.1. CAT cable. I believe one shouldn't buy on a per meter price when he
needs a few tenths of meters and that the next `standard' length is
100 meters. Actually, do you know what is the length of cable
     required?
2.2. A few distribution boxes with 6 or more RJ45 connectors per box.
2.3. 40 cm long drills with 8, 10 or 12 cm diameter.
2.4. I don't think I am currently looking for some other parts but do
let me know about things you believe I should be. In particular, I
am currently not looking for a surface mount box with a single RJ45
     connector.

Where do you live?

If you don't want to buy some hardware together but are willing to sell
the left overs real cheap then I hope that there are more people on this
list other then myself, who would like to read about it. Note that my
own definition for real cheap is `a sum that many, and probably most,
Israelis won't bother for'.

While I am at that titled OT message, is there someone who want to
sell a used UPS for 250 NIS or less? Note that I am willing to pay 250
NIS only for a fully working UPS which has a serial cable attached. Any
other UPS will be taken for at most 125 NIS, probably less.
