As far as I can tell actually NTFS (in read-mode) IS an option. Also I just read in whatsup.co.il about someone who lets XP's NTFS driver run under Linux, providing "real" read/write. (it's any NTFS, but from what the item said right now it supports only XP's driver, it should support NT and 2000 soon).
