Here's an update on my question of 2 weeks ago. Since I still don't see any RPMs being updated on my system, I decided to try a different (out of country) mirror. I chose one at random from the list Mandrake Update supplies and I found 49 packages (a total of 219 Mb) that needed updating. As I write this, Mandrake Update is working. Even with an ADSL connection, it's a bit slow, but at least it's getting the job done.
So, in answer to my own question, the local MDK 9.2 mirrors are not up to date.
