Hi all,I also have intel 815 motherboard. in my case the eepro100 is unusable, I've also experienced random hangs, where the NIC just no longer functions, often taking the whole system down with it.

On an Intel d815eea with an onboard e100 NIC, using the e100 driver
This was resolved when I moved to the e100 driver(which is mostly done by Intel itself).
If I remember correctly, however, the eepro100 does support some older models the e100 driver does not.
