I have a ECS K7S5A motherboard, with irda set in the bios for serial port 2, and an irda transceiver (a hacked and soldered hp printer irda adapter) which works very well in windows. I can hotsync my pda, and connect my phone. What I would like to do is enable irda in linux.
I am running debian unstable with kernel 2.6.6. I have read the faqs, and tried much of what they say, but i can't seem to get any indication as to whether irda is working. I also am not sure which of the modules to load for my configuration. Do I need the irda under the network device driver options in the kernel? Am I loading ircomm_tty or what? If someone could give some clear steps on how to go about doing this, I would be very grateful.

Thank you
