Hi, I am in a straggle to build a PVR.
The Open issues I have: Hardware: Shuttle with VIA MK400 and a Genius TV card ( SAA7134). Open Issues TV Out: I have a working Xfree 4.4 with Unichrome support and Kernel 2.6.7 with all the Unichrome patches, it has a working XV support and even some glx support. But the TV out keep showing up out of sync. TV Card: Since there are no other solutions in Israel, this is a poor default ( it has support in 2.6 even for the remote, the remote is pretty poor). DVB-C card might be great, but.... the CAM for NDS does not available ( people are waiting for it for years, "Trusted Computing" is already here made by NDS). CAM: Conditional Access Module looks like a PCMCIA card that accept your smart card on one end and connects to the Digital tuner card/box to do it's decryption. Smart CAM are associate with Hacking the encryptions and creating faked smart cards, this also concerns smart card programmers... Remote Receiver: This is much more simple, I bought the staff to built it myself, if it will work I will post more. The default will be to use a Shuttle remote, it looks like a USB keyboard to Linux. I also have the working remote from the TV card. Remote Transmiter: To control the Cable box, I did not built it yet. Myth info: I remamber some one posting about downloading it from some site. Any one willing to share success stories, pointers?
