Not really, but I'm not sure 4/4 will get you very far. ISTR wine
having some "issues" with it.

Elaborate? is it not feasible to get make-kpkg to not compile the
docs?

compile it by hand rather than via make-kpkg is an obvious first
step... which I see you've already done.
