This is not exact: iso-8859-8 is NOT the same as windows-1255:

a) From a character set point of view, windows-1255 is a superset of
iso-8859-8. For instance, it includes Hebrew vowels, which do no exist in
iso-8859-8.

b) windows-1255 implies that the Hebrew text is in logical order, while
iso-8859-8 implies that the Hebrew text is in visual order (iso-8859-8-i
implies logical order).

So Ido's "as far as I know" is not going far enough this time :-)

Re: make gnus treat windows-1255 charset as iso-8859-8

hi,

Here is a thumb rull, for EVERY standart there is a Microsoft standart as
well !
Now in this case iso8859-8 is 100% (as far as i know) the same as cp1255
with one exception: The name :)
and the code of charset type, ie when you need to state the name of the
charset you will write cp1255 insted of iso8850-8.
