Did you make sure that lilo is using your new initrd? If the initrd and kernel used do not match, a problem very similar to the one you are describing is very likely.
Yes, I have checked it. I don't know, its very strange. I really want to know what is the problem. I can't stop from searching the Internet and compile again-again and again...
