This is not his fault it is the fault of the idiot who invented email readers that actually answer to such Disposition-Notification-To. I wouldn't want my email program to tell someone when I read my mail, regardless or not if it is a mailing list... For the same reason, you also need to watch out for HTML mail containing external embedded objects, such as external images, CSS, or whatever.
