Hi,

Since you have to open an incoming connection as well (for example port
6881 should be open or forwarded though your firewall) I don't think
that you will gain much with bit torrent.

no, it is preffered but not a must.

Does your FW blocks outgoing connections to 6969? Note that most BT
trackers use non standard ports.

6969 is closed, some other also, but not all.
how can i choose trackers with certain ports ?

Maybe you can try your ISP isp proxy.

already tried that.

thanks,
erez.

hi

i am trying to download fc3 via bittorrent.

the problem: my fiirewall (which is not under my control) blocks port 6969, and i do not have an http proxy.
however, other ports are open for outgoing connectrion via nat (but not 6969).

the --minport <port> switch does not influence the port used to connect the tracker, only the peers.

so:
1. how can i overcome the connection problem (without using a proxy)
2. is there a proxy which will let me use it altghouh i am not it's costumer ?

thanks, erez.
