1st, It does work for me (Mozilla 1.5, yes, I know VERY, VERY old). 2nd, The bookmarks are just an HTML file named, how surprising, "bookmarks.html". Just search it under ~/.mozilla (do something like ls -al ~/.mozilla/*/*/bookmarks.html and you'll see it).
