Give me a break - $200/month? is "reasonable"? How about 60EU / month for 10 Mbit Metro Ethernet - if you live in Italy thats what you'll pay for FastWeb

I think that Nezek is preparing the infrastructure for for IP TV so they can compete with HOT. It is not out of the goodness of their hearts for business users

Hi,

Bezeq has a new service, called "ATM Direct" (not "ATM"). It is planned
as the future main connection between ISPs and their business customers
(instead of currently Frame-Relay).

It ends with an Ethernet port (RJ-45).

Sounds VERY interesting. Any tips on price/bandwidth/availablity?

Yes.

If 512Kb upstream was enough for you, and you lived in an area covered
by HOT, then you already have had a cheap alternative for Frame-Relay.

But for the rest of us, Frame-Relay was the only game in town (assuming
Cellcom's prices for their FR/ATM are too high).

Now there is a real (and cheap) alternative from *Bezeq* (!)

It connects the ATM network to your office over the DSL infrastructure.

There are different bandwidths (256Kb, 512, 1024, 1536, 2048, 4096) and
different levels of quality (basic == CIR0, SHAMUR == at least 50% is
reserved, and MUVTACH == 100% is reserved == like SIFRANET).

Bezeq's prices are VERY attractive. For example, a symmetric 1Mb/1Mb
costs 800/900/1100 NIS per month (for the 3 levels, excluding VAT).
1.5Mb/1.5Mb costs 900/1000/1300.

Unfortunately, ISPs are still greedy, and their charge is similar to
FR.
