I included what seems to me to be the relevant part of /etc/postfix/main.cf in 
my previous post. I'm including it again in case someone can see something 
wrong.

myhostname = shlomo1.solomon
mydestination = $myhostname, localhost.$mydomain
alias_database = hash:/etc/postfix/aliases
virtual_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/virtual
canonical_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/canonical
mydomain = solomon
masquerade_domains = solomon
myorigin = solomon
