Hi Michael,
what you need is xinerama. On X(free|org) there are three modes of having two
monitors.
The first, Xinerama is basically very similar to the dualhead mode in windows
- you can move windows in between the two monitors. The only problem is that
your window manager has to support it, and kde does (although, I use fluxbox,
it is lightweight and is far easier for customization), so it knows not to
resize your windows over both screens together, but just over the one the
window is currently in (or the bigger part of it, anyway).
In the second mode, when you open a window on one of the screens, you will not
be able to move it across to the other. That has its good and bad sides,
thats the mode I use.
The third one is obvious, the two screens display the same thing.
There are a few howtos on the subject over the net. I suggest picking the mode
you like and going for it.

Kind regards,
Alex

The difference between theory and practice, is that in theory,
there is no difference between theory and practice.
