If by 'worth trying' you're asking 'does it work'? It does, usually as-good-as 
swsusp2 in terms of driver support, etc. 
However, swsusp2 has a great suspend script, takes about half the time to 
hibernate (due to the nifty compression trick) and is really feature-packed. 

So if you're using swsusp2 today, I don't see why you would want to go back 
(I'm not aware of any advantage swsusp has over swsusp2).
