Howdie,

so, a few questions: Is securePlatform's kernel compiled with MD
support?

Does it have an md.o driver? If not, does /proc/mdstat exist?

is there an official procedure for this or should one
"improvise"?

What raid level do you want to add?

In theory, SecurePlatform is no different than any other Linux. It's just a standard system with a couple of extra software pieces, a couple of which in the kernel.

The general procedure for setting up md on the fly is to set up the raid with one failed disk (being the disk that currently holds the data), copy the data to the raid, and then attaching the last disk to the raid. I've only tried it on raid-1 before, but there is no reason for it not to work on any other raid level.

Won't reinstalling on RAID and restoring the settings be
faster?

Depends on whether the SecurePlatform installation allows raid installation. If not, and as SecurePlatform erases all partitions on all disks, and does not give you the option to install on existing disks, the answer is probably "no".

safer?
The procedure I describe above is reasonably safe so long as you are working carefully enough. If you are prepared to perform a full reinstall, it's probably less error prone.

Thanks in advance,
Ira.
