As I said, I never used the '4000. I do not know if its compression is
known to linux drivers. I know people did work on this compression. I
do not know how much they did. I am sure it's not easy to
reverse-engineer.

But I did not talk about speed/compression, but about optical quality.
The 4000 supposedly gives much better pictures.
