Right. And common courtesy requires that before asking a mailing list to discuss the flaws of a certain program's license, that you at least mail the author and ask him for his rationale. And we're talking about Maxim Iorsh (last years' Hamakor Prize winner) here, not some sort of unknown programmer in some far-away country. Maybe Maxim thought about this issue and decided that the GPL is *not* a problem, and that it even gives him or us (the free- software users) some benefits? Maybe he was forced to use the GPL, say, because he was building on existing GPL-ed fonts? Or maybe, he simply didn't notice this issue and now that you will point this issue to him he will rethink his position, and later decide to re-license the fonts or add that exception you mentioned? Whatever you do, please give him time. Re-licensing is not a decision to be taken lightly, because you normally can't undo such a decision. Don't expect him to answer you, especially not positively, a day after you make this suggestion. -- Nadav Har'El | Sunday, Aug 7 2005, 2 Av 5765 [EMAIL PROTECTED] |----------------------------------------- Phone +972-523-790466, ICQ 13349191 |echo '[q]sa[ln0=aln256%Pln256/snlbx] http://nadav.harel.org.il |sb3135071790101768542287578439snlbxq'|dc ================================================================= To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word "unsubscribe" in the message body, e.g., run the command echo unsubscribe | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
