Bad idea, you've successfully disabled your patchset. The "current" should be
a symlink to the instrument set of your choice. "emerge timidity-eawpatches"
or, alternatively, "emerge timidity-shompatches" and set the
"/usr/share/timidity/current" symlink to point to the patchset directory,
such as "/usr/share/timidity/eawpatches".

Well, obviously. You don't have any instruments so timidity resorts to the
only default one - the piano. You should really have a instrument set for
timidity to use.
