Hi Ira,

Buy from the web - just make sure you are not putting phones together
with PCI cards as they tend to get it delayed in the customs.

For the 100X(P) models I would go searching in EBay, I got mine for 10$
works great in the last year.

For the Analog Digium cards, double check and recheck that you are
getting the right models, it was quite annoying to find out that you got
the FXS when you wanted FXO...

About the phones, there are many, cheap and simple, or real nice with
massive deployment etc, it all Depends what you need.
For Home, I would go with one of the low costs, or maybe wait for the
Snom 300.

For the rest, well, I evaluated about 10 different phones, and Snom was
the best in all categories...

Have fun,
Ohad

Subject: Who do I have to sleep with to get an FXO card?

For lack hair to pull out, I resort to biting my nails instead
(metaphoricly).

Everybody is into Asterisk lately. it's great, it's cool, it's the real
deal, it's the future.

It's also impossible to find the needed hardware in this country!!! I've
been looing for over a week!

I've asked Xorcom (no FXO yet), and Alyne (no PCI cards, only a LAN box
that's a little expensive).

Asterisk.org.il tells me to call Dimitel (whose site is dead, and their
phone switch just hangs up on me or records voicemail nobody answers).

The rest of the mavens tell me to import my own card.

Is that it? Nobody importing Digium? Sangoma? All I need are two FXSs
and two FXOs. not a PRI, not the moon, not a breakthrough in cancer
research. Just an importer that passes the cards through the MoC
regulations and customs, keeps a stock and replaces defective hardware
on the spot if/when excrement happens to have a collision with the
Zalman.

Any pointers appreciated...

-----

while we're on the subject of VOIP. any good source for VOIP phones?
what about ethernet switches supporting power over ethernet?

Thanks,
Ira.
