Hi, I would like to have a cron job to record a TV program using my saa7134 card. I have mencoder and ffmpeg installed (and may install other software as needed). I do not require high quality, but the recording must be feasible in real time and the A-V must be syncronized. A later compression thread my be run if needed. I'm running on an Intel P4 2.8Ghz with hyperthreading.
What I am using up to now is: ffmpeg -f avi -vcodec mpeg4 -acodec mp3 -s 4cif -qscale 10 This gives very low quality, and starts to lose A-V sync after several minutes (due to lag, I guess). Any recommendations?
