Hi, I am testing some wireless cards on Ubuntu and need some input. My goal is to use network-manager and WPA. No command line of privileged access beyond installation. All tests were on Kubuntu and Xubuntu (which is Swahili for "Wife disapproved of me buying a more powerful machine...")
1. Linksys WUSEB54G Ver 4 (USB) USB, detected by network manager but will only do WEP. Is this a firmware limitation? 2. d-link AirPlus DWL-650+ (PCMACIA) The computer hangs when I insert the card, requiring a cold reboot. Happend on three systems. Anyone ever seen such behavior? Any idea how to test if the card is defective? 3. 3Com 3Com OfficeConnect Wireless 11G 3CRUSB10075 (USB) When connected, appears as WLAN0 device on the command line, but not in Network-Manager. 4. Linksys WPC54G ver 3 (PCMACIA) Added for good measure - This one works. Requires firmware download (one time process). Works with Network-Manager, WEP and WAP. Comments, advice and links most welcome. -- Gil Freund, Systems Analyst ------------------------------------------- Sysnet consulting [EMAIL PROTECTED], http://www.sysnet.co.il voice: +972-54-2035888, Fax: +972-8-9356026 ================================================================= To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word "unsubscribe" in the message body, e.g., run the command echo unsubscribe | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
