P.s.
Since some of the list's administrators have seemed to jump those guns
in the past, threatening actions, I would like to clarify that though I
think that Peter's email is paranoid, I have no reason to believe that
Peter himself is paranoid.
I do not consider myself paranoid, and I did not ask the list about
that, but thanks for pointing this out. I would like to add that in view
of what m$'s history of 'cooperation' with other entities looks like, I
consider that people who are not paranoid about what happens in such
instances overdose their Ritalin/Valium/Lithium or whatever such people
manage their condition with (I wouldn't know). To put it more
scientifically, given the sigma for m$'s track record in this area a
'good' outcome for 'us' (open source users) would be a once-in-a-decade
event to be feted with champagne, and even then it might come back t
haunt us later.
Who knows, maybe Hula will go the Mozilla way. BUT I believe that Hula
was dropped because Novell now has a) vague reassurances of
interoperation with the real Exchange b) vague concerns with regards to
any patented/0wned technology used in Hula (i.e. essentially proprietary
m$ messaging protocols used to communicate with real Exchange). But
then, some people say I'm paranoid, so maybe I am wrong ;-) I did not
write my 'the road ahad' it's just a posting on a mailing list. Relax.
