Hi all! I've been thinking of what to do next in Telux (the Tel Aviv Linux club) and have a few ideas:
1. A Vim/gvim Tips Marathon, where we bring some laptops, connect them to the screen, and enlighten each other with our favourite vim tips and tricks. This would be much less formal than the Vim for Beginners' presentation Sagiv and I prepared ( http://www.shlomifish.org/lecture/Vim/beginners/ ), and more fun. 2. A Lightning Talks session. I have some lightning talks in mind and other people can prepare them in advance, or give whatever they feel like giving about. 3. A distribution/desktop/whatever stories sharing. Each one discusses what his favourite distribution is. 4. [Insert your suggestion here] -------------------- Now for some meta-information: 1. I'd like to convert the shedule to the first and third Sunday of every month, instead of every two weeks. This way the schedule will be more predictable, and easier to program. 2. This time I'll make sure there is proper advertising and proper arrangement. If someone wishes to volunteer in helping in this regard, then send me a private email. 3. In the Ruby meeting it was considered a good idea that the presentations will be kept shorter than two hours, giving more times for socialising, etc. I'm all for two one-hour or even shorter presentations. 4. Following a discussion with Eddie about hosting a Ruby club in TAU, it was decided to form an OSDClub (Open Source Developer's Club - an extension of http://www.osdc.org.il/ ) where we discuss dynamic languages and related topics (Perl, Python, Ruby, PHP, Tcl, JavaScript, HTML, Apache, Lisp etc.) in general rather than having a lot of clubs for each topic. Not that the individual clubs are bad, but Eddie and I will have a harder time hosting a Ruby club in TAU than a OSDClub. I'd like to go forward with this idea as well. The OSDClub will have one monthly meeting.
