Boot time, yes, but when you actually wanted to run a program, you'd often sit as much as 5 minutes (!) waiting for for it to load (though there were "load speedup" utilities that sped this up to just one minute). By the way, today, with the advent of hibernate (suspend to disk), boot time is actually very short. I rarely ever boot my computer from scratch these days - except when I want to change the kernel. Rather I use the hibernate feature.
