This has gotten out of hand, I think. The OP wanted to run a perl script in a custom environment set in a bash script, and we went off on a tangent in the direction of something quite general.
This is a very good example of how an attempt to create a general, portable, robust solution for something that looks quite simple can lead to (likely unwarranted) complications. In some cases the complications may be unavoidable, but then this becomes way out of scope for a mailing list. It becomes a non-trivial project that must be specified, scheduled, budgeted, QA'ed, etc. Alex, sorry, this is probably not what you needed. Mea culpa, I only wanted to point out that you shouldn't execute your perl script without being sure that the environment is set correctly. I am sure you didn't need me for that, either. ;-) -- Oleg Goldshmidt | [email protected] _______________________________________________ Linux-il mailing list [email protected] http://mailman.cs.huji.ac.il/mailman/listinfo/linux-il
