IMHO this is a mistake. In order to get a job as a bookkeeper, your friend is going to have to take a course and become certified as a bookkeeper. The course will focus on using hashavshevet (or an equivalent program) under WINDOWS. Not having Windows at home will make her life difficult and put her at a disadvantage taking the course, passing the exam, and getting work.
IMHO she should also have reasonable fluency in Word and Excel as employers want it.
I think that she would want the most direct route to go from where she is now to employed, and not take any side trips, no matter how interesting they are.
If money is an issue she can buy a netbook sponsored by the national union of parents and students for 1300 NIS with Hebrew XP and Office (student edition) inlcuded. This is about the going price for a license for Windows 7 and the student edition of Office, without the computer.
