Hello group,

I am trying to use the Alt key as Meta in the GNU/linux console but it seems
this is only possible using the us keyboard keymap.

None of the hebrew keymaps let me use Alt as Meta, though I can get Meta
with the ESC key. Googling, I figured it is because of the various Meta
options in it (Meta_space, Meta_slash etc...). I tried commenting the relevant
parts of the file but that didn't do much. I also tried to append alt_is_meta
at the source top. No need to say, nothing worked.

Any sort of hack will be of help. (Using the windows-key as meta is
also an option).

And I also wanted to know what is the current status of emacs rtl/bidi
support ?
(correct arrow-keys behavior and parentheses as well as).
IIRC there used to be a visheb.el hebrew hack but I figure it is quite obsolete
(as of being from 1996). I also tried the emacs-bidi port but it segfault on me.

For the time being, I can only see bidi hebrew in applications under mlterm.

Appreciate your help,
Eliran Gonen
