That was the first thing that I tried when you mentioned that -f is different in aptitude. But it still wanted to remove some 200 packages, which scroll off the screen and one cannot even review what they all are. I tried use GNU Screen but as aptitude is waiting for CLI input it breaks Screen scrolling. Then I discovered that in aptitude one can press "e" for a fullscreen ncurses application! It even has minesweeper built in! With that I was able to narrow the problem down to a broken critical KDE component. Configuring the KDE Beta Ubuntu repo will upgrade the system to KDE 4.6 and solve that dependency.
