I think posting across list (not cross posting) is cheap propaganda. It also creates confusion as poster are not aware of the full responses on the other list(s). It is a form of selective editing and we dont expect seniors to indulge in such activity. If you want to have discussion with a larger audience, please post your views on a forum/blog/web page and have a discussion in form of comments to initial thought (Or any other form as long as discussion is taking place at one location). You can cross-post the link to invite discussion and you can cross-post the synopsis at the end of the discussion. Point to remember here is, all the responses should be available at one place or the author who initiated the discussion should create a page with links to all the responses from all the mailing lists. Information available in bits and pieces that too strewn across internet is very dangerous.
