Message-ID etc are very much there in the digest afaict.

Sorting by date would be better, I agree :)  However, fairly decent
threading takes place, based on the subject.  Message ID is also not lost,
so no problems.

Not likely, with the huge number of mails LI-H generates (this pop3 server
is ~very~ slow :(
