First among the equals
- Jeffery Archer

[This novel largely talks about the lives of four persons who are very
much determined to become the prime ministers of the Britain. A good
novel. Worth a read]

Ohhh there we have a problem. I don't think Jeffery is much educated
about computers. But Binand had sent a mail to me some time back and had
summarised quite a summary <;> of books. Want that? I think jargon
learning etc is OK if that is all you wanna do but

The C programming language [K&R]
The Unix environment [Kernigham and Pike]

are the two good ones. Lately I have picked these up. These books have
fundamental questions which really clear one's understanding rather than
making one familiar with the jargon. Questions like is "/dev/tty a link
to your login terminal? If not, then why not?" are the ones which will
make you pull your hair unless you know your stuff. More like learning
Physics from Resnick and Halliday. Good experience.

All the best.

Rohit

I have a copy of his mail and can send it to you if you like.
