Some people complained in the past about the Xserver shipped with the
stock install of Red Hat Linux [Brought to us by PCQ Nov'99 and before
people yell at me, I must say it is not to be counted as anyone's
fault!] XF86_SVGA server from 3.3.5 version of Xfree86 was somewhat
buggy. In fact, a lot many people had to go back to the server shipped
with Chip CD [Oct 99 that would be RHL 6.0] and install it from there..
I am surprised that this was a recommended solution. In all probability,
the fellow might as well be running the same RHL 6.1 !!!! Let us find
out.. Bhargawa saheb, ap hi ki query thi na? Which version are you
using?

In any case, one solution is this. After fighting it out with SiS cards
myself and then going to FBDev, I changed my graphic card. The vendor
was agreeable to the idea... Thankfully. I still do not believe that
server with 6.1 RHL is the solution. It failed in my case. As Rajesh
Fowkar from Goa once iterated to me, that there is no 'One size fits
all' solution for us SiS card holders. We should rather hold a Citibank
Gold card. :-D

Try X server XF86_SVGA from http://www.xfree86.org/ The version 3.3.6
[currently with me] may be what you need. Slower and more painful
operation would be to use FBDev which works all the time. Contact me
personally / Or check www.exocore.com/linux [Is there a tilde before
"linux"?]

Or may be an

rpm -ivh xf86 etc might do? I soon wish to put up all these routine
findings on the web somewhere. Or people could look in the archieves....
what is wrong with the archieves anyways?
