>suggest me a book which is a leader among equals >and which talks in terms of computer language and >not talk of stories (stories are good but they don't talk of real stuff For starters, ESR's Jargon File is an asset....it familiarises u with many terms in hacker lore....goto www.tuxedo.org and follow the links from there....ESR's page also has some writings whic are considered *essential* reading for a hacker--like the loganitika and "how to become a hacker"....I will admit that parts of teh site prompted my adopting linux :-) Then security and hackers!! Try out Garfinkel and Spafford's "Practical UNIX and Internet Security" by ORA--dated but classic....even Aeleen Frisch's "Essential Sys Admin" from ORA is a great book to learn with.. Than Dan Farmer and Venema's SATAN is a superb hands on tool which can be used to hack ur own network and tighten security...try the bugtraq list and...... Then there is the "slimy underbelly" to hacking...the crackers who have raise themselves to "hackerdom"--learning to crack protection and registration codes(BTW have people noticed that a popular computer mag has devoted a half page to a code cracking site...I was thinking if it was pointer to readers to get the crack codes from there and effectively prolong the life of the shareware programs supplied in the CD!!--Okay, crack sites exist, but giving the search engine to access them is IMHO not the best thing to do.. Whatever, read any book u want, but visit ESR's page...guess ahm plugging him, but the site is worth more than a visit..
