Hi all

I recently bought Yamaha mercury Sound Card. Drivers for this card are
not available from vendor(for linux of course). The card claims to be
SoundBlaster/SoundBlasterPro compliant. Sndconfig could not help me of any
sort.
I have downloaded oss drivers and using the card by emulating
SoundBlasterPro. however I am not happy with the quality of the sound.
It's nowhere near to that in windows. Also it's an evaluation copy and I
can not use it forever.

I also tried to configure the card as soundBlaster as given in
/usr/src/linux/Documentation/sound/SoundBlaster as follows

# modprobe sound
# insmod uart401
# insmod sb io=0x0220 dma=1 irq=12
Here I get error as device in use or resource busy(I don't remember exact
wording of it.)
I checked information in /proc/pci,/proc/dma,/proc/interrupts. But none of
these are conflicting or used by any other device etc. So what's next?

I took i/o,dma,irq from windows. To my wonder, windows uses irq 05. OSS
soundblaster emulation uses irq 07 and /proc/pci shows irq 12. What does
this mean exactly?

Also windows uses a range of i/o addresses like 0x0220-0x02ff(something
like that, I don't remember). But 'insmode sb' does not allow me to
specify a range

Can anybody help me in loading SB module properly.

Thanks in advance.

 Bye
  Shridhar
