The board manufacturer can call his product anything he wants! U should
always refer to the chipset version/revision whenever u make a hardware
query especially on sound and VGA

CODEC - COdeer/DECoder. I don't know what this compression scheme is
used for but most of the new chipsets support it.

SNR - Signal to Noise Ratio - the higher the better, Metal tapes with
Dolby S noise reduction have a SNR of <90 dB. Any run of the mill CD
player has a SNR >90 dB and my home player is rated at 101 dB :)

Well... It's ur choice -

1) Use the shareware drivers for 10-15 minutes every day.
2) Pay 10$(?) and register the drivers for unlimited playback.
3) Wait for the OSS drivers to arrive which AFAIK, will not happen till
Yamaha decided to soften it's stand.
or 4) Change to a supported card.
