        Get a rescue disk, boot with it, then mount your root partition on
HDD on /mnt or whatever you like, and then change the initdefault line in
/etc/inittab to read like this

id:3:initdefault:

        Save the file, reboot as usual from HDD. You will get the console
login prompt, login as root, and install gnome-libs-1.0.40-1.i386.rpm.
Install anything that matches gnome*.rpm, now change your initdefault in
/etc/inittab back to 5, and reboot.
